The 16.5 cm woofer is equipped with the proven CRYSTAX cone from AXTON. The naturally warm-sounding paper cone is given greater rigidity by an additional coating of quartz crystals, resulting in more impulsive bass reproduction and a more responsive response. As a result, the woofer sounds very powerful yet accurate, clearly highlighting instruments and voices, which is particularly valuable when listening to lively music.

The intensive development work on the ATS-HY160C woofer is also impressive on paper. Klippel measurements confirm an exceptionally high degree of symmetry in the force factor (Bl) and the spring stiffness of the suspension unit (Kms). Even at high excitations, the same forces act on the suspension unit when the diaphragm moves in and out, which is a cornerstone of natural and low-distortion music reproduction.

For optimal use in the i30 vehicle door, the woofer was tuned to a low Fs of 61 Hz and a Qts of 0.58. On the one hand, this results in high level stability and powerful bass, and on the other hand, it gives the midrange a particularly harmonious and relaxed sound.

The tweeter has a 25 mm aluminum dome and impresses with its brilliance and spatial reproduction. The soft suspension in a delicate fabric surround allows the dome to reproduce music details with great precision up to over 22 kHz. Thanks to its vehicle-specific design, it fits perfectly into the original bracket. For added safety, the connection cables are covered with foam tape; the plug fits perfectly into the original connection.

The crossover is important for ensuring a correct acoustic connection between two components. A good crossover ensures a stable and balanced sound image.

The crossover of the ATS-HY160C requires only an 18 dB filter for the tweeter in order to optimally adapt the interaction of the woofer and tweeter to the unique characteristics of the i30 vehicle acoustics. To ensure the long life of the tweeter assembly, the high-quality components are well protected on a sturdy circuit board that is integrated into the tweeter's connection cable.

A preset for the ATS-HY160C is stored in the apps of the AXTON DSP amplifiers A544DSP and A594DSP for use in the Hyundai i30. This sound profile uses time correction and numerous equalizer bands to perfect the sound in the Hyundai i30. The presets are available free of charge in the A544DSP or A594DSP app.
