The ATS-FT160C is a custom-fit 2-way Plug & Play component system from the SPECIFIC series, designed for the popular Fiat Ducato and similar models. SPECIFIC doesn’t just mean a perfect fit and matching connectors, but also a vehicle-optimized acoustics.

The Woofer

The 16.5 cm woofer is equipped with AXTON’s proven CRYSTAX membrane. The naturally warm-sounding paper diaphragm gains increased stiffness through the additional coating of quartz crystals, resulting in more impulsive bass reproduction and faster response. The woofer thus sounds very harmonious while still being precise; it clearly highlights instruments and voices, which is particularly valuable for lively music or audiobooks.

For Tech Enthusiasts

The intensive development work on the ATS-FT160C woofer is also impressive on paper. Klippel measurements show an extraordinarily high level of symmetry in the motor force (Bl) and suspension stiffness (Kms). Even at high excursions, the same forces act on the suspension both when the membrane moves inward and outward, which is a key element for natural and distortion-free music reproduction.
For optimal use in the vehicle door, the woofer was tuned to a low Fs of 54 Hz and a Qts of 0.65. This results in high output stability and powerful bass while giving the midrange a particularly harmonious and relaxed sound.

The Tweeter

The tweeter features a 20 mm fabric dome and impresses with its brilliance and spatial reproduction. The soft suspension in a delicate fabric surround allows the dome to provide fine detailing of music up to over 22 kHz. Thanks to its vehicle-specific design, it fits perfectly into the original mount, where it is easily clipped in. For added safety, the connection cables are wrapped in foam tape, and the connector fits perfectly into the original socket.

The Crossovers

The crossover is crucial for a proper acoustic connection between two components. A good crossover ensures a stable and balanced sound image.
The woofer's crossover requires only a 6 dB filter and is complemented by an LCR circuit to adapt the woofer to the acoustic characteristics of the Ducato vehicle. The components sit on a stable, double-sided printed circuit board, which is securely screwed to the speaker basket.
The tweeter is coupled with a high-quality MKP capacitor. It is also mounted on a printed circuit board to ensure high durability of the tweeter assembly.

DSP Settings for the Ultimate Hi-Fi Experience

The ATS-FT160C is the first system from the AXTON SPECIFIC series with a preset available in the AXTON DSP amplifier apps A544DSP and A594DSP for use in the Fiat Ducato. This sound profile utilizes time alignment and multiple equalizer bands to perfect the sound in the Fiat Ducato. The presets are available for free in the A544DSP or A594DSP app.
