A premium sedan like the BMW 5 Series (G30, model year 2018) offers outstanding ride comfort and excellent build quality. But anyone who only has the standard audio system installed from the factory will quickly realize that the sound quality doesn’t live up to the car’s class. Our installation partner ACR Traunstein had just such a vehicle in their shop and demonstrates how to achieve true hi-fi sound in the BMW using custom-fit AXTON components without breaking the bank.
The starting point: Disappointing sound quality in the luxury class
Although the BMW 5 Series is an absolute dream car, the factory-installed sound system left a lot to be desired. The owner complained about a whole range of audio shortcomings in everyday use:
- Lack of depth: The music sounded weak and lacked deep bass.
- Tinny sound: The vocals and instruments sounded unnatural and thin.
- Lack of brilliance: There was a complete lack of fine detail in the high frequencies.
- No stage: The music sounded flat and lacked definition as it filled the room—it didn't create a real concert atmosphere.
The Concept: Custom-designed Speakers & Intelligent DSP Power
To ensure a clean, seamless installation, ACR Traunstein used the vehicle-specific components from the AXTON Specific series for BMW. These are precisely tailored to the original mounting locations and the acoustics of the G30.
The system features perfectly matched speaker components for the doors and center channel (ATS-B100C, ATS-B102C, ATS-B102XS), as well as the powerful ATS-BSUB2 under-seat subwoofers for deep, impactful bass. The entire system is powered by the highly efficient AXTON A894DSP smart amplifier with an integrated digital sound processor.
The highlight of the installation: Thanks to the precisely tailored AXTON Plug & Play wiring harness ATS-ISO8068, not a single wire in the BMW had to be cut or soldered—the original onboard electronics remain completely untouched. After just a few minor adjustments, the amplifier itself was hidden completely out of sight behind the trunk trim.
The result: nothing but enthusiasm for a fair budget
After the system was installed and professionally calibrated, we conducted the first listening session with the owner. The result was met with pure enthusiasm: the customer was delighted to have achieved such a dramatic improvement in sound quality for a relatively modest investment.

Since the factory-installed bass enclosures are attached directly to the body, high-quality sound deadening material ensures that the sound energy reaches the interior instead of causing the metal to vibrate. A little sound deadening in the doors also noticeably enhances the sound experience and ensures absolute quiet inside the vehicle.
